DESCRIPTION

The Fox HotWire is powered by a 9 volt battery for Low Voltage tracing or it can be powered by the High Voltage line it is toning. It can generate multiple tones (Pulse or Warble), provides a visual and audible continuity test, and integrates our own True Trace and TripLatch tests while providing overload protection up to 250 VAC. The Hound HotWire is a battery operated handheld lightweight Probe; containing both a thumbwheel Sensitivity control and Signal Strength indicator LED. It has a built-in LED headlights to illuminate dark areas and reduce fluorescent light noise, a bandpass filter to suppress unwanted frequencies, an earphone jack for noisy or quiet work areas, and an easy access battery cover. The HotWire can also trace other powered or unpowered common wires including telephone and cable TV wires, LAN cables, security system wires, and many others. The HotWire Fox also includes a very useful feature called TrueTrace. The HotWire‘s RF signal can be sensed through both building materials and most metal conduit. The HotWire can even trace shallow (up to 6" deep) underground wires, like those commonly used for ‘Invisible Fences’, cable television, telephone, or low voltage landscape lighting. Complete with test leads (24" and 60"), flat blades, pointed probes, alligator clips, hard carrying case and batteries (2-9V).

The Triplett Fox & Hound HotWire lets you trace live wires (up to 250V AC or 250V DC) in your home or on the job.

This high-performance unit utilizes a different frequency than the traditional Fox & Hound, allowing you to hear the tone clearly where other toners would get lost in the electrical noise of a live wire.

It includes the versatile Fox HotWire Tone Generator (Toner) and the high-performance Hound HotWire Inductive Amplifier (Probe).

Fox HotWire Tone Generator (Toner)


Fast Connections The Fox HotWire features a Voltage Present indicator so you can instantly and safely verify if there is power on the wire. Test a variety of cables using the supplied pointed, flat, or alligator clip probes. The unit is designed to test up to 250V AC or DC, so you can use it for normal household tracing.	Not Just for Live Wires The Fox HotWire can also be used to tone cable TV/COAX cables, Ethernet cables, and any other copper cable.	TrueTrace Cadence Shift and Selectable Tracer Tone Positively identify cables or cable pairs with a momentary short (of non-live wire). The cadence of the tracer's tone changes, confirming the ID. Choose between a high output warble or pulse tracer tone.	Tone/Battery LED An LED indicator visually confirms that the tracer tone is on and shows the battery's status. A magnetic back allows you to mount the Fox HotWire to steel surfaces.

Filter Removes Electrical Interference The tone from other toners gets "lost" in the noise of electrical interference. The Hound HotWire includes an advanced filtering system to ensure you can still trace the wire even if the wire is still live. You can also filter out the noise produced by interference from fluorescent lights with the press of a button.	Built-In Signal Strength Indicator and Headlight The Hound HotWire identifies the Fox's tracer tone up to 3 feet away (6 inches away if cable is buried) and features both audible and visual signal strength indicators. A bright LED gives you a visual indication when you are closest to the wire, even when an earphone is used. Built-in LED headlights allow you to illuminate dark areas.	Adjustable Sensitivity and Volume Control Adjustable sensitivity allows you to trace the wire through walls all the way to the specific circuit on the circuit breaker. It also includes an earphone jack so you can trace wires without disturbing anyone. (Earphones with shielded wires are recommended to reduce the possibility of feedback from the cable to the probe tip.)

Q. Can this be used for 12V or 24V systems?
A. The 3388 can be used on any system up to 250V.
Q. Is it possible to use this device for tracing wires in automobiles?
A.Unfortunately, no. Though the 3388 model can be applied to any system up to 250V, it's not suitable for automotive applications, the cable bundles found in automobiles result in a bleed-out from the cable being tested, causing the tone to spread over all cables in the bundle.
